Purpose of Establishment
We aim to utilize the diverse power of tourism and exchange to promote agriculture, focusing on fruit, and to increase its added value, thereby revitalizing the economy of the Kinokawa River basin. Through this fruit tourism activity, we aim to realize town development in which the local residents can feel the richness of "life with fruit" by working together with the entire community, taking advantage of the town's strength of being able to enjoy fruit all year round.
Kinokawa City and Office Location
Kinokawa City is located in the northwest of Wakayama Prefecture, on the border with Osaka Prefecture, and its name comes from the first-class river "Kinokawa" that flows east-west through the center of the city. The main industry is agriculture, and fruits such as persimmons, citrus fruits, peaches, figs, and kiwis are harvested throughout the year. Historically, the city is also known as the birthplace of the famous temple "Kokawa-dera", one of the 33 Kannon temples in the Western Provinces, and Hanaoka Seishu, who was the first in the world to successfully perform breast cancer surgery using general anesthesia.
The Kinokawa Fruit Tourism Bureau is located in front of Kishi Station, known for the world's most famous cat stationmaster, "Tama Stationmaster."
